Make it your scenario

The starting values are examples. Replace them with your bills or installation proposal.

Example, not a forecast. Use an estimate for the location, shading and inverter limit. 800W is power, not annual energy.

The share that matches demand at home. Being home all day does not mean you use all the generation.

Use the rate you avoid during the hours the panels generate.

Leave at zero unless a supplier has confirmed an export payment for this installation.

Example only. Include mounting, delivery and any electrical or property work.

A result is a starting point

Understand what
changes the answer.

Why does self-use make such a difference?

A kit produces energy when sunlight is available. A fridge and other daytime loads may use some of it, but an evening electricity bill does not prove you can use the midday generation. Check your daytime smart-meter readings, then test a cautious and an optimistic percentage. The chart changes only self-use; it holds your other inputs constant.

Is this a UK plug-in solar suitability check?

No. As checked on 30 September 2026, compliant solar-only kits have a route in Great Britain; Energy Saving Trust says they are not currently permitted in Northern Ireland. Check the exact device, permissions, electrical suitability, mounting and registration through the linked guidance. A savings result is not permission to install.

Does it include an Anker Solarbank or another battery?

No. A battery changes both the connection and the calculation. The current solar-only plug-in specification excludes integrated battery systems. Anker Solarbank 4 Pro currently requires a qualified electrician and a dedicated hardwired UK installation. Read our product guide before treating storage as a plug-in solar accessory.

The working, made visible

How this tool works

Electricity used at home = annual generation × self-use percentage. Avoided purchases = that energy × import rate. Add surplus energy × confirmed export rate for first-year energy value. Simple payback divides the complete cost by that value.

What to allow for

This is a solar-only annual estimate, without a battery. Generation is your input; the tool does not predict weather, shading or inverter clipping. It excludes finance, maintenance, degradation, replacement equipment and tariff changes. It cannot confirm product compliance or property suitability.
