Four things to check before choosing a battery

Usable capacity

kWh tells you how much energy you can store. Match it to the electricity you can shift each day, allowing for any backup reserve.

Power output

kW tells you how much the system can deliver at once. The inverter, battery configuration and site limits all matter.

Backup equipment

Ask which circuits will work in a power cut, which gateway is included, and whether your solar can recharge the battery during an outage.

Warranty terms

Compare retained capacity, throughput limits, connectivity requirements, and responsibility for labour and call-outs.

How these guides are written

These are research-based buying guides, not hands-on tests. Each guide links to its sources and states when they were checked. We distinguish manufacturer claims from our calculations and do not award untested products star ratings. Installed prices need a site-specific quote.
