Start with an identifiable source
Product specifications should link to manufacturer documentation for the relevant model and market. Funding information should link to the scheme operator or government guidance. Supplier tariffs need their own current terms and eligibility conditions.
A review date records when a source was checked. It does not guarantee that prices, eligibility or availability have remained unchanged. Administrative edits to a page do not establish a fresh market survey.
Compare the system you would actually buy
Our buying guides are desk research, not hands-on product tests. We do not invent test scores, customer reviews or star ratings. A comparison should consider usable capacity, output, compatibility, backup equipment, warranties and the installation scope.
We avoid choosing a universal winner where the right answer depends on the home. Ask an installer to confirm the exact model, generation and commissioning limits in writing.
Show the assumptions behind a number
Worked examples and tool defaults are illustrative. They are not national price averages, supplier offers or a promise of savings. We show the main inputs and explain material exclusions so you can replace the assumptions with your own information.
Simple payback divides a cost by an annual benefit. It does not by itself model finance, maintenance, equipment replacement, degradation or future energy prices. An installed quote needs a property survey and a written scope.
Separate illustration from installation evidence
Manufacturer images are credited. Published installation projects are attributed to the company that delivered them and linked to the original account. They are not presented as Home Energy Compare customers.
The homepage film is an AI-generated illustrative scene. It demonstrates a visual possibility, not proof of an installation, testimonial or measured energy saving.
