Why this battery is worth a closer look
The Solarbank 4 E5000 Pro brings a battery and solar power conversion into a compact unit. It is interesting for someone comparing a modest storage project with a larger, professionally designed home-energy system. Start with the amount of electricity you can usefully shift, then compare the complete cost.
It is a different proposition from Anker’s X1 modular home battery, and from a portable power station that supplies appliances through its own sockets. The product name alone does not tell you how it connects to your home.
The UK connection detail comes first
Anker’s UK installation guidance requires a qualified electrician and a dedicated hardwired circuit. Do not interpret overseas “plug-and-play” marketing, or an 800W power setting, as permission to connect this battery to a household socket.
The government’s plug-in solar specification excludes plug-in batteries and solar products integrated with batteries. Read our plug-in solar guide for the separate solar-only route. Your installer should assess the whole property, including existing generation, and confirm the network application or notification that applies.

Compare the installed total, not the box price
On 30 September 2026, Anker’s UK store displayed £1,699 including 20% VAT for the base unit. This is a hardware offer, not an installed national average. Prices, included gifts and bundles can change.
- List the exact battery, metering and control accessories in the order.
- Price the electrical assessment, dedicated circuit, protection, cable route and commissioning.
- Include panels, mounting and installation if you want solar generation.
- Confirm network paperwork, applicable VAT and responsibility for aftercare.
- Request an explanation of what operates during an outage.
A savings example with the working visible
Suppose a battery delivers 4 kWh on each of 300 days. At an assumed 90% round-trip efficiency, charging takes 4.44 kWh. If charging costs 10p/kWh and avoids electricity at 27p/kWh, the benefit is about £191 a year: 300 × ((4 × £0.27) − (4 ÷ 0.9 × £0.10)).
This is not an Anker performance estimate. It excludes standby consumption, degradation and changing tariffs, and assumes you can charge and use that energy on all 300 days. Who should put it on the shortlist?
Consider it when a smaller storage starting point fits your daily demand and you can obtain a clear installation proposal. Compare it with X1 and other systems if higher output, different solar integration or wider backup coverage matters more. Request a demonstration of the exact tariff controls you intend to use; a compatibility claim is not a guarantee of savings.

Can I plug Solarbank 4 Pro into a normal UK socket?
Anker’s UK instructions currently require a qualified electrician and a dedicated hardwired circuit. The new plug-in solar rules do not cover plug-in battery systems. An 800W setting does not remove that distinction.
Does the advertised price include installation?
The £1,699 price checked on 30 September 2026 was Anker’s hardware offer including 20% VAT. Obtain a separate, complete installation quote and check the exact bundle, accessories and VAT treatment.
Is the 15-year lifespan a 15-year warranty?
No. Anker’s datasheet separately lists a 15-year product lifespan and a 10-year warranty. Read the full warranty terms and confirm who handles labour and support.
